TaKeTiNa® “Rhythm X” Training
with Reinhard and Anna-Maria Flatischler
October 27th – November 1st, 2023
a 6-days workshop at Lake Starnberg (near Munich)
Do you want to learn how to create groove – with your band, on your instrument, or with your students? Would you like to discover the building blocks that are the foundation of all music? Or do you want to enter into a rhythmic flow and improvise freely?
With this “Rhythm X”-Training, you open up your body’s rhythmic knowledge and develop the skills to achieve your goals.
You will learn:
- “Rhythm X” – a new vision of rhythm that is the underlying grammar of all cultures.
- rhythm through your body as a foundation for every musical instrument and every dance form.
- how to develop flexibility and improvise freely.
- a profound left-right independence by developing simultaneous perception.
- how to create deep groove by becoming aware of the inaudible part of rhythm.
- to gain rhythmic stability by dealing with chaos phases, recognizing that chaos is a creative force that can help you to lose the fear of making mistakes.
These are the contents:
WORLD OF OFFBEATS – SUBDIVISION OF THE INTERVALS:
There are 8 elementary offbeats that belong to the basic musical repertoire and appear as elements in all music. The effect of the offbeats depends in each case on their position in the space between. In music pieces, they usually stand as individual elements in the overall rhythmic context.
In TaKeTiNa exercises, they form a continuous offbeat layer over a long time. This intensifies the tension between the elements and once your body has learned to allow this tension and has integrated the movements, you will be able to feel the offbeats in any musical form and play them with ease.
POLYRHYTHMIC IN A NUTSHELL
Learn basic polyrhythmic structures and experience the power that arises when different pulsations meet. Polyrhythm is the basis of the rhythmic worlds of Africa, Brazil or Cuba.
In “Rhythm X” you will be led from elementary polyrhythms, like 2:3, 3:4 or 2:5 into complex polyrhythms, like 3:5, 3:7 or 4:7.
If you can open your perception to the different pulsations of rhythmic ratios, this is not only an excellent musical training, it is also the way to develop simultaneous perception.
ODD CYCLES – THE WORLD OF 5, 7,9, 11 and more
Cycles are comparable to colors – the more varied, the more colorful and lively. Why does it hardly bother anyone that we almost only get to hear cycles of two, three and four? Have we become “color blind” in the realm of music?Â
Cyclic movements are not only in the elementary area of three and four, but also in more complex forms in all humans predisposed. In “Rhythm X”, the often unusual cycles of 5, 7, 9 and 11 become recognizable forms and familiar body movements that you can use to create new forms and rhythms and bring more richness to your music and movement.
For whom?
In this rhythm training, you don’t learn a specific technique on a specific instrument – your body is the instrument we use. Once you have internalized what you have learned, you can then transfer it to your instrument. The training is as valuable for teachers or solo musicians as it is for someone who wants to start with handpan, djembe or frame drum.
Even as a dancer, you will benefit from this rhythm training, because a strong sense of rhythm is the basis for precise and expressive movements.
