TaKeTiNa® Rhythm Therapy
Specialized therapeutic training
TaKeTiNa® Rhythm Therapy
This training combines TaKeTiNa and therapy: become a certified rhythm therapist and use the healing power of rhythm to lead people into deep development and change processes.
Working with rhythm and the musical process in combination with working through individual issues promotes personal development and successful therapy processes.
Music therapy has long existed in various forms to support healing processes, as making music promotes neuroplasticity on a physiological level and encourages the development of sensory, motor and emotional skills.
Working with rhythm in this context, on the other hand, is new, although rhythm is omnipresent in nature and body rhythms and cycles influence our health – the activity of our organs, our metabolism and nerve and brain activity.
In rhythm therapy, clients experience how they gain strength and vitality by connecting to their musical roots. They are guided into a network of feeling, listening, speaking, singing, moving and inner visualization, which helps those who have lost contact with their body or certain bodily functions in particular to learn to consciously perceive and feel themselves.
The active, physical experience of the present moment is essential in rhythm therapy. While the rhythm constantly maintains the connection to the “here and now”, difficult experiences from the past can be emotionally touched and integrated, especially when verbal communication is not possible.

Shared Path And Vision
We have developed rhythm therapy out of the deep conviction that rhythm is a key to healing and personal development. Our training combines sound knowledge, many years of practical experience and a clear therapeutic structure – always with the person at the center.
What Is The Content Of The Training?
- Learn the TaKeTiNa process and be able to apply it in a therapeutic setting. Various rhythmic levels are built up using the voice, steps and clapping movements, which lead the clients into whole-body rhythmic experiences.
- Rhythmic competence on the instruments berimbau and frame drum and a confident use of the voice as well as practical knowledge about the healing effects of rhythm.
- Actively shaping a therapeutic relationship. Participants learn to verbally support the rhythm journeys, to intervene in a targeted manner and to conclude processes in such a way that patients can integrate the experiences gained through TaKeTiNa.
- Rhythm and rattle conversations as a tool for in-depth verbal accompaniment.
- Experience-oriented psychotherapy in rhythm: present- and experience-oriented process support, psychodynamic understanding, meaning and handling of transference and countertransference phenomena, structure-related work, dealing with conflicts and crises, etc.

Testimonials
"My name is Dr. Ali Behzad and I have been working for 15 years at the University Hospital in Erlangen in the field of cancer medicine and since 2012 also in the field of naturopathy and complementary medicine. I came to TaKeTiNa because I was looking for an organic and superordinate principle to expand my hobby-musical skills.
During the TaKeTiNa teacher training I realized what this work, while “just making music together”, does to participants and leaders on a personal, emotional and psychological level. As a doctor who is always on the lookout for effective tools and methods to help patients on their way, I saw huge potential in this work and, in collaboration with Reinhard Flatischler and Frank Rihm, began to develop concepts to investigate the effects of TaKeTiNa on our patients.
I am interested in what TaKeTina does on a biological, cellular and psychological level, as well as what role it plays on the various levels of health and illness. In my work, I have learned how important it is to understand how TaKeTiNa works, especially in a therapeutic setting, in order to be able to work effectively.
And that is the unique thing about this training course. Not only do you learn the TaKeTiNa method, but you also use it consciously in the therapy setting under professional guidance. What is the right dose, where can I go deeper, what tools are available to me in this situation? By learning both TaKeTiNa and psychotherapeutic work, you develop a keen sense of what supports or hinders the process in which situation."

"The Taketina rhythm therapist training opened up a completely new and unique approach to therapeutic work with people.
I was able to experience the effect of TaKeTina rhythm work on my own body and soul during the training. This learning process touched deeply hidden longings in me for vitality, creative expression and belonging to the community. I also gained new access to stillness and to the greater forces of life.
Working with TaKeTiNa has restructured my inner space so that I can rest in my center even in difficult situations. But even when I fall out of this connection, I regain my bearings relatively quickly and reconnect to the inner source of vitality and awareness.
Although I am not a musician by nature, my training and involvement with rhythm gave me new access to music, my own voice, musical orientation and rhythmic movement. This has enormously improved and enriched my personal quality of life. I go through life more consciously and with more energy.
It fills me with great joy to work therapeutically with rhythm and to accompany people in exploring their inner spaces during rhythm journeys, gaining new insights about themselves and trying out new patterns of action. Yes, even to initiate healing processes through rhythm and to better process traumatic experiences and integrate them into the self-image.
I think the structure of the training is very well designed. It teaches and trains the practical skills for working with rhythm and the theoretical and practical foundations of depth psychology-based, body-oriented psychotherapy. It is practice-oriented and includes elements of self-awareness, practical exercises and reflection. It combines rhythm work with therapeutic interventions.
I can warmly recommend the TaKeTiNa rhythm therapist training with Reinhard Flatischler, Frank Rihm and Bettina Berger. I am very grateful for the professional and warm-hearted support at the highest level."
"TakeTiNa rhythm therapy is a very effective way of leading people from thinking to feeling in conversation - and in a very loving way - by sensing what the person sitting opposite me needs at that moment, and this can:
–be a rhythmic journey in which the topic discussed comes even further to the surface in rhythmic events.
–It may bring up a completely different topic that can be worked on further in the conversation.
– may be playing a drum.
–may be accompanying and supporting the conversation with a rattle, which I have repeatedly found to be very connecting during the process.
What wants to show itself in rhythm therapy is carried by rhythm. Rhythm provides me with the ground that supports me in a therapy session, holds me, gives me confidence to look, to allow, to remain in the feeling without reflecting.
What was very special for me in rhythm therapy was the experience of being able to meet people in depth with rhythm and thus stimulate processes that are hardly possible in a therapeutic conversation alone.
The practical relevance of the training was a moving process for me, in which I learned more about myself and others, in which I was able to understand myself better and experience and understand the connection between rhythm and therapy.
For me, rhythm therapy expresses something that I find very precious: the person confides in me - in rhythm and in conversation - and what I perceive from the person in this connection needs no words - it is a great gift - it only needs my perception, my presence, to be able to accompany and support the person in their process."
Settings
In the therapeutic field, TaKeTiNa is primarily geared towards leading small groups and individual work. It therefore works with simple polyrhythmic structures that are particularly suitable for setting inner processes in motion. A specially developed set of instruments enables us to respond flexibly to the needs of the client.
The rhythm therapist tailors their services to the client’s individual situation and the dynamics of the group. He then decides from the moment how psychotherapeutic and rhythmic processes can be meaningfully combined.
There are various settings to choose from:
- TaKeTiNa groups (small group, 3-15 people)
- TaKeTiNa in individual work
- Therapeutic Talks
- Rhythmic Talks (with rattles or drums)

FAQs
Why “further training?” Is there a training course in rhythm therapy that I should complete beforehand?
No, there is no other rhythm therapy training. It is training, the content of which can be integrated into an existing field of activity.
I have already had a lot of self-awareness and would like to work in the therapeutic field in the medium term. However, I have no therapeutic training to date. Can I still do the training?
It is not ruled out in principle. In any case, it would be important to take part in the information and selection seminar and to clarify with us in a personal meeting whether you can benefit sufficiently from the training.
I have no previous musical experience, but would still like to integrate music and rhythm into my therapeutic work. Is it still possible to do this training?
Of course, it can be an advantage if you already play an instrument, sing or have some other form of musical experience. However, this is not a prerequisite for starting the course. TaKeTiNa is a new way of learning (rhythm) – in the course everyone is led step by step into the musical process and playing the instruments. Much more important than previous musical experience is the willingness to practise regularly.
I am already a TaKeTiNa teacher and would also like to work in the therapeutic field. Can I take part in this further training
Yes, this is possible and certainly a valuable enrichment for leading workshops. We see the TaKeTiNa Teacher Training as a good basis for the TaKeTiNa Rhythm Therapy training due to the intensive personal development. As leading with TaKeTiNa works differently in a therapeutic setting than in rhythm pedagogy, this part of the training will also be new for you.
I work full-time. Can I do this training while working?
The training takes place in block courses. This time should be kept free for face-to-face teaching in Nuremberg. The time between the sets can be individually arranged for practicing and working through the topics.
