“Encounter rhythm in a way, you have never done before – experience rhythm beyond the limitations of bar and meter”

TaKeTiNa is a completely new and holistic vision of rhythm. It is conveyed in a manner, in which humans can comprehend and learn rhythm in the best way possible – through the bodily experience of primal rhythmic movements. Beyond traditions, such as European, Indian, African or Asian music rhythms are broken down into their very core elements pulsation, cycle and subdivision, which are the foundation of music of all cultures.

“The human body is the foundation of learning any musical instrument. Only when we are able to express and manifest rhythm with the body we will be able to groove and create a state of flow.”

In TaKeTiNa the interaction of  audible and inaudible elements in music become transparent. The audible sounds and rhythms variate and are irregular. The inaudible waves, however, which are created through the creation of the music are regular. Listening and sensing become an inseparable unity. This inaudible, but tangible foundation is used by TaKeTiNa: through stepping, clapping on the basic or subdivision pulsation it is possible to actually experience the rhythmic space.

The body movements gradually become autonomous and merge with inner movements. We feel a deep sense of being carried and a state of flow opens up. Getting in contact with this rhythmic space opens the ability to improvise. The fear of making mistakes dissolves and makes room for confident performance. TaKeTiNa creates an intuitive access to music and leads to an authentic way of playing music.

“Learning with primal rhythmic movements has the advantage, that everyone has access to this rhythmic information.”

Usually it is impossible to get into the simultaneity of several rhythms. With TaKeTiNa this unique experience is possible for anyone, independent of training or experience as it is possible to fall into the knowledge of primal rhythmic movements with ease and even without practice.

All cultures have used sound and rhythm as part of their daily life because it promotes the evolution of humans. Playing music together creates encounters on a profound interpersonal level. In our music culture however more and more people become passive and participate in music only as listeners. With  TaKeTiNa it is possible to have these musical encounters and experiences even without learning a musical instrument.
